History of the JDRF DC Chapter Real Estate Games
Adam Singer (Savills Studley) and Rick Kimball (Avison Young) founded the JDRF Real Estate Games to support the JDRF Greater Chesapeake and Potomac Chapter in 1989 and hosted the first annual event on July 20, 1990 at Gonzaga College High School. The ’90 Games gained support from 23 real estate brokerage and development firms, 200 participants and 38 volunteers to raise $28,000 for type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. 26 years later, the event has grown exponentially with the support of over 115 companies, 2,000 participants and 200 volunteers to raise more than $400,000 annually. Since its establishment, The JDRF Real Estate Games has raised over $5 million for T1D research. In 2015, the Games raised over $480,000.
Who is JDRF?
JDRF exists for the millions of children, adults, and families affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D) every single day. Their determination to overcome this disease strengthens ours to end it by funding life-changing T1D research.
T1D is an autoimmune disease in which a person's pancreas loses the ability to produce insulin — a hormone essential to turning food into energy. It strikes both children and adults suddenly and is unrelated to diet and lifestyle. It requires constant carbohydrate counting, blood-glucose testing, and lifelong dependence on injected insulin.
Your participation in JDRF events ensures that JDRF can continue funding critical T1D research. With your support, this research will continue to bring us closer to a world without T1D.

JDRF is an accredited 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency.
