About "A Promise to Remember Mary"
Mary Tyler Moore filled our homes with the joy of laughter, playing a lead role in two of the best shows in television history. But it was her real-life role as a champion for a cure for type 1 diabetes (T1D) and its complications that will be her most enduring legacy. As JDRF’s International Chairman since 1984, Mary provided voice to the fears and hopes of people personally affected by T1D and their families. She was one of JDRF’s first million+ dollar donors, she helped establish the Stem Cell Research Fund, and she participated in our New York Walk for many years.
Of particular importance, Mary testified in front of Congress and led public service campaigns that helped raise billions of dollars for diabetes research...research that has improved the lives of those suffering with T1D and will ultimately help us keep the promise we each have made…. to deliver a cure to our loved ones, and create a world without T1D. Please join us in expressing our gratitude for Mary’s many gifts to our T1D community, and make our promise to never forget her and what she did for us.
